Born in Athens. He entered the Athens Medical School in 1981 and specialized in Orthopaedic surgery at the Athens Laiko Hospital where he wrote a doctoral thesis on the subject of his specialization. He graduated from the National School of Public Health, where he specialized in Health Economics.

His trade unionist experience dates back to 1995 when he founded the Athens & Piraeus Association of Specialist Physicians (SEIAP) and was president of the association for 3 years (1995-1998). In 1997, he established the Pan-Hellenic Society “Young Doctors” and he has served president until 2004.

He is founder and chairman of the Union of Professional Doctors of Attica (E.E.L.I.A.) (2002).

For 8 consecutive years, he has served member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Medical Society (I.S.A.) and vice-president for 3 years.

In 2011-2014 he is being elected president of the Medical Association of Athens (I.S.A.) until today.

His involvement in politics began in 1998 when he was elected municipal counsellor for the first time at the Municipality of Pefki.

He is Founder and Chairman of the “Hellenic Healthy Cities Network” scientific society from 2005 to date.

In 2006, 2010 and 2014 he is being elected Mayor of Amaroussion.

In 2008, he was elected member of the Union of Municipalities and Communities of Attica (TEDKNA) and president of Committee on Social Policy and Human Resources of TEDKNA, until 2010.

The period 2011-2014, he was elected President of Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Restoration of Penteliko.

Moreover, the period 2008-2010 he was served president of a non-profit organization HL7 Hellas.

In 2014, he has elected President of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece.

In 2015 and 2016 he was elected Vice President of the Council of Municipalities and Regions of Europe.

He has published the following works:

  • “Young Doctors” scientific magazine
  • A special publication entitled “FIRST AID”, which is distributed to the residents of frontier island areas and other areas of the country.
  • The ISA publication “Doctor Inflation in Athens”
  • The newspaper of the Union of Independent Doctors of Attica
  • The magazine “Dimon Ygeia” of Hellenic Cities Network

He is married to Marina Stavraki, who is a Historical Linguist. They have a son named Alexandros.

Mr. Papadakis has been involved in the healthcare sector for the last 22 years, specialized in Information Technology and Quality Management. He currently holds the position of Chief Information Officer in Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, OCSC. Prior to OCSC, he has worked in IBM Intl Greece as Software Analyst-Designer in large-scale software development projects in Greece and abroad, as well as IT Manager in ARMOS Construction Company and QUALCO Consultants where he was also a member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Papadakis holds a Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens-Greece, an MSc Degree in Computer Science from UCL, University of London-UK, a Diploma in Quality Systems Management from the European Organization for Quality-EOQ, and an Executive Training Certificate from J.F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University, USA.

Dr Christos F Kampolis, MD, PhD is a Consultant Physician in Pulmonary Medicine at “Laiko” General Hospital (Athens) and a Research Collaborator of the eHealth Unit at “Sotiria” General Hospital of Chest Diseases (Athens). He has graduated the Medical School of Athens in 2002 and received his PhD from the same University in 2014. He has been specialized in Pulmonary Medicine at “Sotiria” General Hospital of Athens (2007-2012). He participates in some National and European R&D projects involving best practices for chronic disease and multimorbidity management. His clinical research published in International and Greek medical journals focuses on the management of COPD patients with cardiovascular comorbidities and the cardiopulmonary manifestations of patients with collagen vascular diseases.

Vozikis Athanassios is Assistant Professor of Health Economics and Information Systems at the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus. He holds a degree in Public Administration from the Panteion University, a M.Sc. in Health Informatics from National Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Ph.D. in Health Economics and Information Systems from the University of Piraeus.

He is Director of the Laboratory of Health Economics and Management of University of Piraeus, and has served as member of the National Council of Public Health and Chair of the Negotiation Committee of EOPYY. He is member of various scientific associations and organizations and member of the Editorial Board of several academic journals. He has participated in several research projects related to Business and Economic Re-engineering Processes in the Health Care.

He has extensive experience in project management and business analysis (requirement gathering, user acceptance analysis and testing). He was a senior Business Strategy trainer for four years.

He is co-founder and CEO of DravityHealth, a software company that has developed Medicalinfo suit. Over his career, he has been the principal business project manager, for more than sixty healthcare I.T. projects, the latest being the digitization of processes for the 404-military Hospital in Larisa.

Thomas J Erickson is the Director of Technical Operations for the Personal Connected Health Alliance, where he is responsible for focusing members’ domain expertise towards development and promotion of the Continua Design Guidelines and the Test & Certification Program. He also engages with key industry organizations to ensure continued alignment with underlying standards and specifications. Mr. Erickson has over 20 years’ experience developing and implementing test solutions for products ranging from mobile devices to cryogenic launch vehicles. He holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Prior to joining the PCHAlliance team Mr. Erickson was President and CEO of the CDMA Certification Forum where he led the development and deployment of a worldwide test and certification scheme to ensure conformity and interoperability of mobile devices. He served on the Global Certification Forum board of directors while merging these two organizations.

As Vice-President of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, Mr. Erickson was a key member of the team that helped launch CDMA mobile technology to the world and make it successful. This included chairing a CTIA working group to develop and implement a regional test & certification scheme for the North American market.

Michael graduated with a BA in philosophy, political science and sociological studies from the National University of Ireland before moving to Vienna, where he worked for the European Society of Radiology’s PR & Media department for several years.

He joined the EIBIR team in February 2015 and previously served as project manager for the FP7-funded VPH-PRISM project on breast cancer tumour modelling and was involved in dissemination activities for the VPH-Dementia Research enabled by IT (VPH-DARE@IT) project.

He currently serves as project manager of the EURO-CAS eHealth Interoperability Conformity Assessment Scheme project and leads the dissemination and exploitation work package of the HYPMED Digital Hybrid Breast PET/MRI for Enhanced Diagnosis of Breast Cancer Project, both of which are funded under the EU’s Horizon 2020 Programme.

Professor Panayiotis Tsanakas received his BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Thessaloniki, his MSc in Computer Engineering from Ohio University, and his PhD in Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He is currently serving as professor of computer engineering in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. He has participated in several national and EU-sponsored projects, in subjects covering e-Infrastructures, distributed systems, parallel computer architectures, embedded systems, grid computing, and medical informatics. He has published four textbooks and more than 80 research articles in scientific journals and international conferences. He is currently the Chairman of GRNET, responsible for the deployment and operation of the national R&E network, along with large-scale national HPC and IaaS facilities. He has also served as a member of the national telecom regulator (EETT). His research interests include high performance computer systems architectures, cloud computing, and distributed applications in medicine.
