Andy started his career in BT before moving into strategy consulting for the US firm Arthur D Little. Andy has since formed his own consultancy BE Advisory which specialises in helping firms in the use of digital to transform themselves to become customer centred organisations.
Andy has worked across banking, telecoms and travel sectors but in the last 5 years has made Health his main area of expertise. Andy has undertaken many projects for the NHS and PHE as well as working with Sanofi Aventis on the unmet needs of diabetes patients and an 18 month secondment to Bupa where he led Bupa’s eHealth strategy.
Andy has a deep knowledge of the challenges of bringing digital health in to the healthcare system. He co-authored the original Digital First report for the Department of Health making the case for the mass adoption of digital health services in the NHS as well as a major report for the NHS Confed on digital opportunities for improving mental health service delivery.
Andy has worked closely with Public Health England (PHE) over the last year on a number of digital projects and has recently led the development of a new transformational PHE digital strategy that seeks to place person centred digital health solutions at the centre of public health delivery. In 2016 has also been part of the team developing a world first national health system app endorsement programme where approved apps are planned to be kite marked with the NHS logo to increase confidence and adoption across the UK health system.
Andy brings a unique combination of knowledge and insight from both the outside industry and inside the public health system and is well placed to provide us with an overview of the importance of digital health to the future of a 21st Century Public Health system.
